Yes, I’m supposed to be working on the new quilting book, but I just got off the phone with my sister, planning next weekend’s backyard campout for my niece’s birthday, and that got me started thinking about s’mores.

A couple of weeks ago when I was visiting them we threw a couple of logs into the fire pit by the pool just so we could make s’mores.  (Gotta have that smoky flavor on the toasted marshmallows!)  My nieces told me that raspberry s’mores were their current favorite and I had to try those, so I went to the store for raspberries.  Then, while I was gathering up the ingredients to take outdoors, I noticed the bananas sitting in the fruit bowl.  I quickly grabbed one and sliced it up to take outside with everything else.

Well, let me tell you, the raspberry s’mores were pretty good, but the banana s’mores were AWESOME!!!!!!  Imagine a warm, crunchy, toasty, melty banana split.  OOOOH YEAHHHHHH!!!

And did you know that there is a National S’mores Day?  Check it out here: http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/things_to_do/National-Smores-Day-Campfire-treats-hiking-and-more.html

Next weekend is Labor Day — the last (unofficial) weekend of summer.  Whether you’re prepping for a back yard barbecue or a camping trip, remember to pack the s’mores and the bananas!
